Some other websites that I like
- The Editing
Room
-
Rod Hilton's abridged movie scripts, or to be precise: script parodies.
Relive some of today's great and not so great moments in cinema!
- The Dialectizer
-
Translate any web site into a number of funny English dialects. Try the following
links for the
"Redneck",
"Jive" and
"Cockney"
versions of my homepage.
- MegaHAL
-
A conversation simulator program by Jason Hutchens. For a quick impression,
have a look at some of MegaHAL's
classic
quotes or, if you have some more time to spend, at a rather lengthy
conversation
with its creator. There is also some technical
background
information, including interesting observations on the famous Loebner
Contest and this particular branch of artificial intelligence in general.
- Victor Stone
-
"The Corporate Runs", a series of humourous short stories about programmers
and their management, originally appeared as "Stone's Way" on the MSDN
(Microsoft Developers' Network).
Although I find them very enjoyable, I would like to point out that they
portray work at a large corporation (if they portray reality at all),
and have very little to do with software development as I know it from my
own work experience.
- Project Gutenberg
-
Classic literature online. It's for free, because the copyright for these
works has expired. You will find many well-known names, like Jane Austen,
Arthur Conan Doyle or
Mark Twain.
- Statistisches Bundesamt
-
Sehr umfangreiche, relativ trockene Daten, aber wer ein wenig Zeit
mitbringt, kann hier eine Menge Interessantes und zum Teil auch
Überraschendes über Deutschland erfahren.
